Introduction

kinCompass measures Universe Time not “only” Earth time. Life is here too.

This web presence hosts a revolutionary tool for handling time, according to the ancient Olmec and Maya calendars which are spiritual calendrics.

The names of these two calendars are the 260 day Tzolkin calendar and the 360 day Tun calendar. One is a personal calendar and one is a community calendar. One “fills” the other. They also had the 365 day Haab calendar, but that was only for paying bills and timing agricultural activities. The Tzolkin and Tun calendars have so much depth we are still working to find out more about it today!

These calendars view time from the perspective of the entire universe. Not in physical categories, but in spiritual - in consciousness.

Time was so important to the Maya the day they were born was their name. When someone introduced themselves, they revealed the nature of their inner self by their name alone. Each kin has a specific meaning. Each has a certain strength and purpose. The strength is the Tone which is between 1 and 13 and the purpose is the Sign which is one of 20 distinct names. By giving your name to another person, you explain a great deal to them. This made for a much more efficient, intimate and lively society.

For the Maya, time itself was a manifestation of the Creator.

Where is kinCompass going in the future?

The code underneath this tool can be ported to other web applications. It is written for that purpose. Once such application is the exciting new system OrderWorkDone being released before the 6th Night. Global business tools will finally support the Tzolkin and Tun calendars because of advances made in kinCompass.

All systems designed by be zoe support conscious calendrics which mark universe-time.

What does Kin mean?

In some traditions, “kin” means “close family” and to the Maya it means “one unit of time.” What we call “day” the Maya called a “kin.” The reason for this, is that “day” meant something else. A day and a night were types of kin. So not every “day” was a “day” to the Maya. Some “days” were “nights” which is very confusing for us today. Every “odd” kin is a “day” and every “even” kin is a “night.” The word “kin” fixes all this because it removes “day” and “night” altogether. When someone says, “what is your kin?” that is the same as asking, in our words, “on what day were you born.”

We are the type of person we surround ourselves with. The friends we have very often shape us just as much if not more than we shape our friends. So the word “compass” speaks to that truth about us. We are guided by our people. We are also guided by time. Each kin holds another step in our personal growth. The Creator has filled each person in our “village” and each moment in our lives as a guide for us. Together, our community and time are our “compass” - hence kinCompass.

Why “Understand TIME”?

In the current way of measuring time which is in wide use among most civilizations today, everything is physical only. There is no spiritual significance to time. When we are told it “is” January 7th, we are to imagine the Earth, a physical object, circling the Sun, another physical object, and to imagine one being at a certain point in its traveling around the other. What does this reveal about the day itself? What does that mean relative to individuals and communities? Who cares but the tax collector, land lord, and our to-do list? Time in the present use is dry and dead.

Each kin has a specific energy which we are either using properly, or working against. If we know what is going on in the universe so that we can align ourselves to that we are much better off. Rather than talking only of this planet and physical objects which we believe are outside ourselves, the Tzolkin and Tun calendars coordinate spiritual beings who live in a metaphor which is ever-changing and yet also remaining the same.

The notation of dates in the Gregorian calendar is very clumsy, and causes a lack of clarity in our understanding of time. Does this month have 28, 30, or 31 days? Perhaps it has 29 this year. Why are the months named the way they are? Why do I care about ancient gods and goddesses from Babylonian and Roman times? Of what significance is each day but commerce and physical wealth accumulation? The Tzolkin and Tun calendars do away with all this. Each day follows a smooth and harmonious cycle and each moment is significant.

When you follow the Tzolkin daily, it is easy to remember the day because you are consuming its energy as a food. If you forget what day it is on the Gregorian calendar, you can always check. Otherwise, it is common to go for several days without thinking about physical objects as “outside” at all. The chief problem with the Gregorian calendar is that it encourages a person to see time as “external” and based on physical objects. It does not have to do with spirit where everything is metaphor, and life is meaningful. In conscious time, what is external is not really outside at all, and physical reality is the clothing of immaterial beings.

What is a Trecena?

Each kin comes in a set of 13. That set of 13 kin is a Trecena. Interestingly enough, each Trecena is the meaning of a Sign. The 13 kin of a certain Trecena are what that Sign means. You know a new Trecena has begun when you see the kin is 1. One means “Unity” and it contains the other 12 kin of that Trecena in advance, but not in detail. The remaining 12 days explain the details of the first kin in that Trecena. For example, the Sign “Cimi” starts with 1 Cimi, then comes 2 Manik, 3 Lamat, 4 Muluc, 5 Oc, 6 Chuen, 7 Eb, 8 Ben, 9 Ix, 10 Men, 11 Cib, 12 Caban, and 13 Etznab. The 13th kin is the “Ascension” of that Tracena. It is like 1 because it “contains” all the other Kin in the Trecena, except 13 unlike 1 has each Kin in detail, and takes them all to another level.

The Tzolkin calendar is what is called “recursive.” In programming, the word “recursive” means “invoking itself.” To understand this, look at any kin. The kin this content is being written on is called One Chicchan, so that will be the example. First of all, we know that since today is a “One” kin, a new Trecena is starting. When we look at the Sign “Chicchan” we may wonder what that means. Because the Tzolkin is recursive, the definition comes from somewhere else in the calendar. In this case, since the new Trecena is just begun, we don’t have to look far. The next 12 kin define what Chicchan means specifically, 1 Chicchan, 2 Cimi, 3 Manik, 4 Lamat, 5 Muluc, 6 Oc, 7 Chuen, 8 Eb, 9 Ben, 10 Ix, 11 Men, 12 Cib, 13 Caban.

Trecena by Order and by Appearance? What is the difference?

The Signs come come in a 20-round with the order Ahau, Ik, Akbal, Kan… etc. That is their sequential arrangement and it repeats infinitely. But the Signs are composed of their contents, and their contents are the 13 kin which define the Trecena of that Sign. The Trecena occur in a different order than the sequence of signs in the 20-round. They are tuned to the 13-round of Tones. Whenever the Tone “1″ occurs, that means a new Trecena or Sign is appearing in the 260-round Tzolkin. The Tone “1″ means “Unity” which is the “all of one” or “singularity” so it presents something as a whole, then the kin after it makes it a duality, the kin after that activates it, the kin after that stabilizes it, etc. All this is the Tone round affecting the Trecena sign. So the Trecenas come in order of appearance which means where 1 touches their Sign in the 260-round, and they come in the order of the signs themselves in the 20-round.

What do the colors mean?

Each Sign is either Yellow, Red, White or Blue.

  • Yellow symbolizes “South,” “Earth,” and “Body”
  • Red symbolizes “East,” “Fire,” and “Beginnings”
  • White symbolizes “North,” “Air,” and “Mind”
  • Blue symbolizes “West,” “Water,” and “Endings”

Each interact in special ways like chemistry. For more information on that, read about Conscious Interactions.

What are Burner Kin?

Once a person logs in, the first thing presented is their Kin. It shows the interactions the person has with the present kin and the present trecena but then at the bottom, there are the Burner Kin. These are four Kin which are “vents” for excess energy. For 13 kin, ending on your Burner Kin, all the excess energy that is not expressed in normal life is released quickly and some times fairly violently. 52 Kin out of 260 are burner kin. Those Kin can often feel like an enormous inescapable rush.

What is a Tun Spiral?

Each Kin travels down a path. That path is a Tun Spiral. It is like a staircase. The interesting thing about them is that they are going down. It is as though the divine is coming down to Earth to be human, as us. When you know what each Tone means, you can interpret your own Tun Spiral and see where you are in your life, where you are going, generally speaking, and prepare yourself.

This is a very intimate feature of the Tzolkin and Tun calendars working together. Each point in the Tun Spiral is always of the same Sign as its Kin, but moving through many Tones and Trecenas of different colors. You cannot explain a Tun Spiral without getting very personal. Just like a core sampling of a tree explains what the tree has been through, the Tun Spiral shows the energies your Kin has gone through.

What is the Galactic Butterfly?

Humanity is one organism, the Galactic Butterfly. This might be hard to see with people fighting, but at the root of human beings there is a network connecting us all. That network is the Tzolkin, and it has a special shape and design. There are three kinds of Kin which make up the butterfly. There are the Core days which are like the body of the butterfly, in the center. This is where energy originates and it moves outward into the “Activators” Kin who transfer that energy into the Wing kin.

For more information about this, check out The Galactic Butterfly for yourself.

Is this astrology or divination? Is it determining my life? Is it ever wrong?

Astrology and divination are about physical celestial bodies and certain gods and forces are attributed to them whereas the Tzolkin and Tun are about spirit only, and have to do with consciousness. They do not care about physical celestial bodies in space. And the calendar does not determine your life any more than the land determines your life. The land around you is high and low, green or dry, slippery and stable, etc. These calendars treat time like terrain. They show you the way the landscape is so you can make the best step. And when it comes to determinism, the argument has been made “if two people are born on the exact same kin, they will have the same life, right?” Well, no. Surfing, snow boarding and skateboarding teach us that the same sets can be ridden in very different ways. And in the case of Surfing, where you are on the wave and when you get there - down to the millisecond - makes for a totally different experience. With skateboarding, the ramps do not move, but many different tricks can be done in the same park. It is an art form. Time itself is a platform for the art of life.

Many people block out the Creator from their consciousness, unconsciously (due to the nature of what is going on). Those kin will have problems with the Tzolkin. When it says the day is going to be Support/Comfort for them, it can often be dismal. When it is supposed to be Strengthen/Challenge, it might be an Easy day. The reason for this is that the person is ignoring the Creator, or subconsciously fighting the Source. In that situation everything the Creator sends to them is skewed and distorted by the receiver. No matter how much someone studies the calendar, if they do not already know their Creator and accept the Source into their consciousness, it is of no use. This calendar is for people who want to know the Creator better. It is for family of The Ancient of Days who the Maya called the First Father. So when the calendar says one thing and you feel differently, always check to see if you are resisting or betraying the Creator by lying to yourself or clinging to your own idea. Often times it might not even be distortion of the calendar when things go differently than you expect. The calendar is often used to show you how you are changing, and strange occurrences will show you that you are learning something new that you never thought to expect from the Creator before. Enjoy those moments.

What is consciousness?

Are you aware that you are aware? Then you are conscious. When you are not “paying attention,” then you are unconscious. These calendars are a tool of consciousness, drawing you to the present moment. There is the saying “carpe diem” which means “seize the day.” That is wrong - in reality, the day ceases you. It calls you to be conscious and reminds you of who you are, in many different ways. It does not define you, but it gives you a context and way to live. It is the most important thing in your life. Without time, what would your life be? Consciousness is the art of being aware of your own awareness. When you see a beautiful sunset and you realize you are seeing a beautiful sunset and feel grateful to the Creator for that experience, you are conscious. When you are reading text on the internet and realize you are human and reading text on the internet, you are conscious.

There are many events to be aware of in the universe, and none of them are visible or physical. They are spiritual. Physical events are secondary. These universal events that are invisible are intensely personal and have many different meanings from person to person. In truth, each Sign might feel different from one person to the next, and different things will “pop out” at each person in a given kin. This is the unique experience we each have with our Creator. No story is the same, no life is like any other. They can be similar, but never exactly the same same. Each individual will is distinct and special.

Are there interpersonal benefits to kinCompass?

When you know what someone is made of you are better able to understand them. One thing that people always notice is they are able to relate to people better when they closely follow the Tzolkin because when they meet a person, they are really meeting a Kin which they already know. It is usually very strange (in a good way) when you meet someone with the same Tone or Sign as you. Sometimes it can be so powerful you cannot help but talk about it. Many different instances of people that were introduced to each other by someone who knew they had the same Tone result in profound friendships and other types of relationship.

The Tzolkin is the ultimate “congruence” tool which puts people together based on their internal traits. It is not a good idea to get micromanagerial with kinCompass, but it is always good to be aware of who you are introducing to who, and why.
